
In October Melcal Marine successfully passed an in-situ audit and were approved as a supplier for Odim/Rolls-Royce Stavanger.

Melcal Marine are to be set up as a supplier for Odim/ Rolls-Royce Stavanger as a result of winning orders to supply cranes for the Talisman Energy Project YME Field. The cranes to be supplied are of a new design tailored specifically to suit the customer’s lifting requirements and include a handling balcony crane, a cherry picker crane and a manipulator arm tong crane. These cranes sales were secured with the assistance of Melcal Marine’s Norwegian partners WK Offshore and Marine.

Odim/ Rolls-Royce Stavanger’s Lead Auditor Mr. Sindre Walderhaug and his colleague Mr. Sveinulf Øydne visited the Melcal Marine factory from the 27th to the 29th October 2010, representatives from Melcal Marine’s Norwegian partners Mr. Svein Trygve Røiland from AMV Offshore and Mr. Benny Wetteland from WK Offshore and Marine were also in attendance.
An audit was required to ensure that Melcal Marine could offer high quality products & to confirm the efficiency of the company’s Quality Control System. Odim/Rolls-Royce also focused on Melcal Marine’s ability to meet the special contract requirements, as well as the factory’s capacity to cater for any potential changes during the contract phase.
Melcal Marine proudly received a ‘B’ status from Rolls Royce’s audit, and production of the cranes is already underway.
